Welcome!

My name, Karin, was pretty common when I was growing up...just not the spelling. Unless you are of German heritage like I am. So, I have spent my entire life answering the question, "What is your name"?... With, "Karin...with an "i"! Who knew it would come in handy all these years later when I went to name my blog.

Ornaments

Hello Everyone!

The past couple of weeks, I have been helping a friend make ornaments for an event at her church.  These are no where near all of them...(literally numbered in the hundreds) but these are two of the papers she chose.

I thought they came out super cute, so I decided to make some for my friends and family and I used a cute snowflake image from the set Warm Winter by Lindsay's Stamp Stuff.

To make these, you will need:
2 strips of patterned paper 12" x 2".
Score each piece of strip at 1/2" all along the 12". Then fold accordion style.
Use sticky strip tape to adhere the 2 pieces together, inserting a piece of string at the top for hanging.
I used a dab of hot glue in the center of the rosette to hold it together and then just embellish as you wish.

The center circles measure 1 3/4" and 2" and the snowflake is embellished with a rhinestone and some glitter.

So, have you started making anything for Christmas this year?  I would love to know.
Thanks for visiting!

I'm Alive

Hi Everyone!

I decided to take a little blogging break for the Thanksgiving holiday, so if I haven't been around you your blogs, I will be there in the next day or two.

My husband was on vacation last week, so we had a good time doing things we normally don't when he is working.  We went to see the new Harry Potter movie, went out to eat, bought a new iPod, struggled with getting our new lap top up and running, (that's a whole other story there, many choice words were uttered)went to the CAVS basketball game and saw a great game winning shot by Mo Williams, ate Thanksgiving dinner with my family at my cousins, had second Thanksgiving at my sister in laws on Friday, and I have been trying to get everything decorated for the holidays this weekend.  Oh, and I squeezed in some card making time too. Whew, I'm pooped all over again just typing it.

Some bits of business I want to mention....Wednesday is the big day of the DRS Designs Holiday Blog Slide.  What is a slide? Well, pretty much the same as a hop, but it's the holidays! So, we are sliding along instead of hopping like bunnies ;)

Remember, the more people that enter, the more stamps that will be given away, so mark your calenders.

I did have a post last week at the DRS Designs Blog, so I thought I would post the two cards from over there, here.
They use basically the same two stamps, Single Fall Tree and Shine On Harvest Moon sentiment, but this one I also used Starry Background and Easy Grass Background.
Here I played up the "shine" bit of the sentiment and covered the image in stamping glitter.  This tree could easily be used for you Christmas cards as well.  How are you coming along with those?  If you need a few new stamps for this years cards, the new releases are in at DRS Designs!  I'll be showing them off real soon.

Oh, and today is the last day to enter the Spoonful of Sugar ChallengeDRS Designs is the sponsor, and you could win a $10.00 voucher to the store!

Well, that's it for me for now.  Here's hoping you aren't overwhelmed by the holiday details yet.

Hodge Podge Shop-Anything Goes
Totally Gorjuss-Use a Tree
Character Cafe-Neutral and Glitter
Inktegrity-Anything Goes

Lady Scarecrow

Hi Everyone!

Since tomorrow is Thanksgiving, I thought I would roll out one of the last fall themed cards that I haven't had the chance to post yet.

This sweet Scarecrow Lady is from DRS Designs.  I colored her with Copics and then cut her out and layered her on top of the background that was created using the Hay Bales stamp.

The Scarecrows and Corn Rows greeting adds the just the right sentiment and the orange ribbon matches the ribbon on her hat.  Check out all of the stamps that DRS Designs has to offer right here.

Also, mark your calender for DRS Designs Blog Slide happening on December 1st!

Just click here for the details, but you will want to spread the word.  The more entries that are received, the more prizes that will be given away!  Woo hoo...Yay for prizes!

Eat More Beef

Hi Everyone!

The countdown to the biggest meal of the year has begun, and time is running out for this turkey featured on my card today.  It's one of the new releases from DRS Designs and the stamp is named...are you ready? Poultry Propaganda!  Isn't that cute?  He sure is working hard making a case for anyone but himself...lol.
I colored him in with pencils for a change, and paper pieced the sign he is holding.  I used gold colored paper, so that it would match the background that was created using the new Hay Bales stamp. The last thing I added to this card was some embossed lines around the edges of the card.

Well, no extra chit chat from me today...You can check out the entire collection of stamps at DRS Designs and even though my card is here today, we post a new card everyday at the DRS Designs blog!

Have a Brilliant Fall!

Hi Everyone!

I thought I would post this card today to bring you some joy.  That's what I feel when I look at this sweet little guy jumping in the pile of leaves.  Do you remember doing that?  We never had enough leaves in my yard growing up, so I had to do this at my friend Kellee's house.  I so could do this now where I live, how sad that I don't want to...Or rather, I wouldn't be able to walk for a week if I jumped like that now. lol.

Here are the stamps I used and they are all from the new releases at DRS Designs

See those little leaf brads under the corner of the sentiment?  I thought they were so cute when I got them and I still do, but I've been trying to use them up for two years now...Only a million more to go!

Thanks for the visit today and I hope your day is brilliant on every level!

Hostess with the Mostess

Hi Everyone,

Today I'm posting a card made with the new Hostess with the Mostess set from Amber Ink.  When this set came out, it was a must have for me :) Man, I so wish I was her! Isn't she marvelous? I mean, she totally kicks Martha's behind to the moon.  The way I see it, even Martha wishes she was this fabulous!

With the holidays right around the corner, we are always going somewhere, so this is the perfect thank you card to have in my stash.  I was able to paper piece her apron using a bit of iPaper, which made it coordinate with the iPaper in the background.

A flower seemed like a perfect embellishment for her, nice and girly.

Thanks for the visit today...Check out this set at Amber Ink and see all of the wonderful things this wonder woman can serve up on her platter...Jello, Martini's, Shrimp Cocktail...

Easy Christmas Cards

Hi Everyone!

If you've visited me this week, you know I've been busy.  I have had my MIL's birthday, book club, Bible study, prepped the food boxes to be passed out to the needy for Thanksgiving, my aunt's birthday and tons of yard work.  Those leaves are driving me crazy! So, my project is super simple, for all of you, who are like me and are quickly running out of time.  But first...

To celebrate the season, Lindsay's Stamp Stuff at MyGrafico is having a 40% off sale, so now is the time to grab what you need for the holidays...Woo Hoo!

For my Lindsay's Stamp Stuff post today, I'm using one of her Bold Black and White digi papers from this set for some easy peasy Christmas cards.
I printed the damask pattern on to some red paper, and in a jiffy I made up 3 cards for my personal use.  See...

First card uses a free digi stamp from the Papercrafts site, and the other two are traditional stamps from my supplies.  I left them flat and mostly embellishment free for easier mailing.

Remember those great Halloween Labels that were a best seller in her shop?  Well, Lindsay's Stamp Stuff now has these Vintage Christmas Labels!

How cool would these look matched up with some of that paper?? Get them for the holidays while they are on sale people...They are 40% off!

You will also want to mark your calender for November 26th because Lindsay is hosting a Virtual Crop in the Crop Room at My Grafico Community.

It will be lots of fun and you will be able to share ideas and maybe even get your holiday cards done before December :)

Thanks for stopping by and visit Lindsay and the rest of the team for great projects and freebies too!

Simple is Best

Hi Everyone!

Ok, I'm crazy pressed for time this week, and I feel the holidays bearing down on me.  Isn't that crazy?  That I would feel that kind of pressure on November 9th?? Anyhoo, I got my first Thanksgiving card in the mail over the weekend,  (Who are these ridiculous, on top of it people???!) and I realized I have been working on so many things for design deadlines, that I haven't made any cards for my friends and family yet.  Sigh.  Decided for sanity's sake, I would try one layer, clean and simple design for their Thanksgiving cards.

I have to say, my heart sang just a bit, when I finished this.  I seriously *love* this no big deal card.  Thank you DRS Designs for these two fabulous stamps, Small Silhouette Leaf and Brilliant Fall Greeting.

All I did was stamp that leaf in multiple colors and add the sentiment. Oh yeah, and round one corner.

And this is it with the new Delightful November Greeting.   I feel my sanity returning just looking at these.

Go ahead, I give you permission to make a bunch of CAS cards for the holidays. Easy as pumpkin pie :)

Keep calm and carry on my friends!

Hello my fabulous friends :)

No card from me today because I have book club this week and guess who is only half done with this months selection?  Yes, I'm behind.

I've also been busy making some ornaments for a church event, so I hope to show you those closer to Christmas time.  Anyway, this is our book this month.  If you never read it in high school or even if you have, read it again.

Awesome.

Why can't everybook be this good?

Happy Harvest

Hi Everyone!

My card today was inspired by this fantastic photo I snapped a couple of weeks ago.  I was at a red light, and I quickly grabbed my phone and shoved it out the window and was able to capture this...

Isn't this gorgeous??? I'm awestruck everytime I look at it.  As much as I wish that winter around here was shorter, I wish fall in all its splendor was longer.  Sigh.  This is already just a memory because the trees are now almost bare.

Oh well, it served as great inspiration because here is my card.  I used the tree image from the set Funky Forest by Lindsay's Stamp Stuff
I used a combination of paper piecing and Copics to color it and one of my favorite embossing folders for the background that has a bunch of random autumnal words.  I hand stamped the sentiment and layered it up with some circle punches.  I thought that, and the round buttons coordinated well with that image.

Here is a look at the entire set:

Well, that's it for me today :) I hope you will take time to see what Lindsay and the rest of the team has made
this week.  Their blogs are always worth the visit...You can even snag a freebie or two along the way!

An iPaper Pumpkin A.K.

Hi Everyone!

The new INKcredibile Challenge is in full swing and I finally have my entry completed.  Yay!

The challenge is to make something for someone you don't know, and give them a little R.A.K. Or if you prefer, and A.K (Act of Kindness) if it's someone you do know.  Isn't that a sweet idea?  So great at this time of year when we have loads to be thankful for.

Even though Halloween is behind us, that doesn't mean we have to leave pumpkins behind just yet.  I know it seems that we go straight from Halloween to Christmas, but I just adore all the colors and smells of fall.

So with that in mind, I decided to use some iPaper and make a little paper pumpkin and pair it with some candy kisses as a gift for my cousin who will be hosting Thanksgiving dinner.

I printed out this pattern School Girl Plaid-Goldenrod and then sent it though my printer again, and printed a coordinating pattern (Earthy Tartan) on the other side.  I doesn't show up in the photo, but I didn't want it to be white on the inside.

To make the pumpkin, you will need 11 strips of paper 1" x 6" with a hole punched at either end of the paper.  Then just run a ribbon through one end and knot it.  Run the ribbon through the other end, leaving a small piece at the top for a stem.  Then fan out the papers and add paper leaves.

I wanted to show off the shiny kisses in all their autumn glory, so I packaged them up in a clear box with a ribbon that had gold accents.

I used a scrap of the Earthy Tartan for my tag and the leaf image is from the stamp set Fall in Love.
Thanks for visiting the blog today and I hope you are inspired to do something kind for someone during this season of thankfulness:)

DRS Designs Sponsors Midnight Madness

Hi Everyone!
This week DRS Designs is sponsoring the sketch challenge over at  the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge.  The prize being offered is a $20.00 gift certificate to the DRS Designs Store!  They have so may great stamps to choose from, that I know that you will want to play along with us this week :)

I took this opportunity to make a card for a friend who has a birthday coming up at the end of this month.  Here is the sketch I used:

And this is my take on it.  Our friend is a golfer (although with work and a child, I know he doesn't get out as much as he would like to...Isn't that always the case?) so I used the Silhouette Male Golfer along with the GOLF Frustration Greeting for a bit of humor.  I'm pretty sure he will be able to relate!

The Easy Grass Background always pairs well with so many stamps and the twine is a good masculine element on a guy card.
Thanks for dropping by and I hope you can make time to play along at the Midnight Madness Challenge for your chance at a $20.00 DRS Designs gift certificate :)  Speaking of which, the new releases are here!!!

Additional challenges this card is linked to are as follows:

Squished S'Mores

Hi Everyone!

Today I have a card that is made with a couple stamps from DRS Designs and this Smooshed S'More stamp  could not be any cuter, right?  I might actually love him more than I do a real S'more!  I liked him so much I stamped him three times and added the S'More Greeting to complete it.  The color inspiration came straight from the colors of the chocolate and graham cracker.

I left it embellishment free and only distressed the edges of the cardstock with my scissors.  Thought that gave it a rugged outdoor-sy feel since that is where you make them, by the campfire. Unless it's winter, then I make them in the microwave.  Did you know you can do that?

Just put the graham cracker on a plate with a marshmallow on top and zap it for 10 seconds or so.  It may be less, just watch the marshmallow puff up and turn it off.  Top it with a piece of chocolate and another cracker and you are golden.  Trust me on this one!

DRS Designs is the sponsor at the Card Patterns blog right now, so if you want a chance at a $10.00 gift certificate there is still time to participate in the challenge!

Challenges this card is linked to are as follows-
Top it Tuesday-Anything Goes

Thanks for the visit!
