Welcome!

My name, Karin, was pretty common when I was growing up...just not the spelling. Unless you are of German heritage like I am. So, I have spent my entire life answering the question, "What is your name"?... With, "Karin...with an "i"! Who knew it would come in handy all these years later when I went to name my blog.

Summer Blog Hop

Hi Everyone,
Welcome to the DRS Designs Summer blog hop!  Today we are showing off the newest release of stamps, and offering up a great prize package too.  Now, if you came from Shelia's Blog, you are on the right track.  If not, start at the beginning at the DRS Designs blog!  That's where you can get all the details and remember to leave some blog love along the way :)

For my card today, I'm featuring the new Happy Seal stamp, along with the Splish Splash sentiment.

The seal was so cute, that I thought I would stamp him a few different times, and position him like he's doing flips in the water.  Then I decided not to color, but to paper piece him instead and attached him with pop dots.

I also happened to use the new Bubbles stamp on my blue background, and all of these are available in the new releases section at DRS Designs.  (A big thank you to Cheryl too....The twine comes courtesy of some blog candy I won on her blog...Woot!)

Next on the hop is Janett!  I know you're gonna love what you see!

Here's the list in it's entirety, just in case there's a hiccup along the way...

Happy summer and happy hopping!

Purple Flowers

HI Everyone,

I made my card for the new challenge over at the DRS Designs blog that began yesterday..."Flowers".  I know, it's an easy challenge if you ask me.  And now I will also let you know something else....DRS Designs is the sponsor this week at the 365 Cards blog, and the challenge over there is "Nature".  So, why not join me, make a card and enter both challenges for a chance at a prize :)

After seeing a couple of my design team mates use this pretty Dogwood Branch in their backgrounds, I thought I would give it a try.  Funny how I just thought of it as a main image stamp, but I love the results.  It's just colored with Copics and added a bit of Stickles in their centers.  I decided to pad my B-day card stash, so Birthday Wishes was stamped on the bottom.

I made a rolled flower (only my second or third one ever), and added a gem to the center.  I think I don't make them very often, because now I have to hand deliver the card.

Well, I had a house full of guests for Father's day, I was out shopping for a new fire pit this week, and I'm desperately trying to finish my scrapbook from my trip to Italy.  If I don't finish soon, nobody will even care anymore about the photos...lol.  And the heat has chased my card makin'/blogging mojo to God knows where.  I hope it comes back soon!

Thanks for dropping by and hope to see you at the challenges!

Scrapbook Page

Hi Everyone,
I have something other than my usual card for you today. The design team was recently challenged to make some scrapbook pages, and while this was out of my comfort zone, I love the results!

Making a 12 X 12 scrapbook page was new for me, (I usually go smaller) but I think I found a new favorite way to preserve some memories. These photos were from my vacation to Florida, a couple of years ago. We had a great time visiting my husband’s aunt and uncle, who winter in Naples each year. We visited with them a few days, and then headed off to Universal Orlando for the rest of our stay.

One of the days we spent with them, we took a day trip to Marco Island and visited the prettiest beach I have ever seen! It was huge and the sand so soft and white. It really made me want to move there!

I used some stamps from the set Tropical for this layout. I never dreamed it would be so easy to embellish my page, but the Sparkle N Soft in the Sparkling Sands (SS118) color was perfect for the beach-y theme and some strips of Evening Glow glitter (G1086) added the right amount of eye
catching bling.

The cute sun was stamped, fussy cut and attached using an Action Wobble. It adds a great bit of movement and interest to the layout! Seriously, such a cute and fun accessory for paper crafts!
All the specific details can be found in my gallery right here.

Thanks for stopping by...It's Father's Day weekend here, so I'll be celebrating with my dad :)

 Have a great one!

Heavy Metal Challenge

Hi Everyone,

Good grief, summer sure has been busy for us so far. I'm trying my best to keep up on blogging, but it seems to have fallen to the end of the to-do list.  All that beautiful sunshine outside, sure doesn't help me want to stay indoors either :)

We have another new challenge at DRS Designs, so here is my card showing off a bit of "Heavy Metal", in the form of a rhinestone charm.

I'm in love with the new Script Font Background stamp.  It's long and covers the length of your card easily and it's perfect for making a card with an elegant theme.   After stamping the background, I stamped the Sea Grass in Versamark and embossed it with White embossing powder. The Engagement Wishes sentiment was cut out using an oval Nestie, and embellished with some chalk.

Sheer ribbon and a pre-made ribbon rose finished off the card.  I'm really digging the green monochromatic color scheme, if I do say so myself :)

I hope you can join us for the challenge and you can check out the design team cards there too.

Have a good one!

Flying Friends

Hi Everyone,

This weeks challenge at the DRS Designs blog is "Flying Friends", so anything with some wings will do. Check out your stash and play along for a chance at some stamps from DRS!

I used the Birthday Sheet Music stamp and the Silhouette Butterfly on today's card to make my background. The Three Butterflies stamp was used on the center strip and also for embellishment.

The big butterfly was punched and I added some dots and Stickles to it, and layered it on the Swag and Dot Circle stamp and added the Happy Birthday Arc.

You can see all of the design team inspiration and link up your card right here!

Well, since my patio door is finally fixed, I'm off to get some flowers planted in the backyard before the summer is totally over.  I'm also hoping my few flowers will attract some of these flying friends too :)

Have a great day!

El Flamenco

Hi Everyone,
This is a quote I found on Wikapedia:

"Clevelanders still associate polka music, white socks, and pink plastic flamingo and yard globe lawn ornaments with Parma, Ohio."

While I don't see too many of the plastic critters around any more, I couldn't help but think of those, rather than the real animal when making this card a while back...lol!
The stamp is from the Sparkle N Sprinkle set named Art Deco (It's on sale this month too!) and I was able to match some tropical paper to my one left over flower from a project from last summer :)  It would make a good bon voyage card for someone going somewhere warm and sunny!  Or in my case, an old friend who no longer lives in Parma :)

I heat embossed the image with Dragonfruit (EP410) embossing powder, I used lots of Dazzling Rose (G1085) glitter along the edges, and even embellished a clothes pin with it.
The complete details can be found in my gallery at Sparkle N Sprinkle.
Thanks for stopping by!
