Welcome!

My name, Karin, was pretty common when I was growing up...just not the spelling. Unless you are of German heritage like I am. So, I have spent my entire life answering the question, "What is your name"?... With, "Karin...with an "i"! Who knew it would come in handy all these years later when I went to name my blog.

Belated Birthday

Hi Everyone,

I try to pride myself in being on top of things, but sometimes life gets in the way. Thankfully
DRS Designs has great stamps for these times when I happen to be late.

My friend had a birthday coming up, and as the day approached I knew I wouldn't make it in time, so out came the Lost Track Birthday stamp. I stamped the greeting, die cut it and added a
Silhouettte Balloon on top which I had stamped off one time, to make it lighter in color.

I used that same balloon stamp along the side, stamping multiple times and then embossing it with clear powder.

Since the card was pretty clean and simple for me, I decided to carry the balloon over to the inside along with the Tiny Belated Birthday Greeting.

I stamped it once, and then a couple of more times without re-inking it, to give the illusion of it floating up :)
Thanks for stopping by the blog today!

Thanksgiving Turkey

Hi Everyone,
I had my first taste of turkey this past weekend. I roasted a turkey breast that I still had in my freezer from winter, and while it was good, it really put me in the mood for the traditional holiday meal with all the trimmings. Let me tell you, a meal of turkey breast and steamed veggies is not the same as one with stuffing and mashed potatoes! Thanksgiving cannot get here soon enough :)
So today's card shows off the Turkey Dinner stamp from DRS Designs.  Now THIS is what a turkey should look like :) Don't you love the perfect iconic look? Even if I did have those little frilly footies (not sure what they're called...lol!) my real life turkey wouldn't look like this!
I colored this with Copic markers, die cut the image with my Spellbinders rectangle die and added some Stickles to the cranberries.

I chose to use some patterned paper I made with the Woven Plaid stamp, because it reminds me of a tablecloth my mom would use on our Thanksgiving table every year. I stamped the
Wonderful as You greeting in a cranberry red ink, added a bit of printed ribbon and some matching gems to finish it off.
Thanks for stopping by and remember to check out our challenge each Thursday on the blog!

Cowboy Snowman

Hi Everyone,

I'm taking a break from the fall themed cards I've been making and posting a wintry creation today. Have you started on your holiday cards yet? It's never too early, especially if you want to avoid feeling rushed :)

I stamped and colored the Cowboy Snowman from DRS Designs with my Copic markers and die cut it using a Spellbinders rectangle die. I layered it and added it on top of a dry embossed background, divided by a piece of rick rack.

I stamped the In the Meadow greeting and then divided it up to fit on my card. It was finished by adding some Stickles and tiny snowflakes.

If you haven't played along in our Inspired by Nature challenge, there's still time! Be inspired and link up right here.

Have a great day!

Harvest Moon

Hi Everyone,

Have you had a chance to play along in DRS Designs most recent challenge? If not, here's another card to give you a little boost of inspiration. The theme of the challenge is "Harvest Moon", and even if you don't have a moon stamp, you can create a moon using a punch and some masking.

I used a Post-It note and punched out a small circle to mask off the moon and then tore an edge of paper and masked off the sky and ground. Using a sponge and some ink in greens and yellows, I created the background.

I used the Winter Trees stamp, and the Single Fall Tree for my scene and the bottom portion of the Thankful for Little Things greeting for the sentiment.
I hope that you get a chance to play along for us and be in the running to win your choice of 2 stamps from the catalog!
Hope you're having a great week!

Harvest Pumpkins

Hi Everyone,
I can't believe that it's October 1st! Fall is moving right along and the trees are starting to show some color already. We've had great weather in Ohio this September, so I'm hoping the trend continues. I went to the apple orchard and bought apples for eating and baking, and now I have pumpkins on my mind!
I stamped the Hayride Harvest Greeting from DRS Designs and cut it out with my Spellbinders die, adding a bit of orange sponging around the edge. I layered it onto an embossed background of fall inspired words, which was tied with raffia and a pumpkin charm.

I stamped, colored and fussy cut the October Pumpkin with Fall Leaves and added them to my card to finish it off.
Thanks for stopping by, and be sure to join our challenge every Thursday for a chance at a great prize! It's all right here on the DRS Designs blog!
