Welcome!

My name, Karin, was pretty common when I was growing up...just not the spelling. Unless you are of German heritage like I am. So, I have spent my entire life answering the question, "What is your name"?... With, "Karin...with an "i"! Who knew it would come in handy all these years later when I went to name my blog.

Cupcake Inspirations Easter Challenge

Hi Everyone,

DRS Designs is this week's sponsor over at the Cupcake Inspriations blog, and the prize is a $15.00 voucher to the DRS Designs store.  Just look at the inspriation photo for this weeks challenge...

Isn't it adorable?

I knew right away what stamps I was going to use.

I created the sky with a scallop punch, cut the chick from some felt and I fussy cut the flowers and added them to the grass.  Just like the photo!

Here's hoping you can play along and I hope your Easter is a wonderful one :)

Daisy Basket

Hi Everyone,

The current challenge over at the DRS Designs blog is running for two weeks, so you still have time to enter your "basket" cards!

I stamped the Daisy Basket and colored it with Copics and took the color inspiration for the rest of the card from it.  Here are the other stamps I used to make my background papers:

The sentiment is Vertical Birthday Wishes, but I stamped each word separately and added it to my card in two pieces.

I hope that you get a chance to play along in our challenge this week.  Stop by the blog to see what wonderful creative cards the DT made :)

Just so you know, I know my blog visiting has been sparse for this month.  Truth be told, I'm overwhelmed by paper crafting projects at the moment.  I've been working on Easter favors and gifts, and favors for an 80th birthday party.  Along with the birthday party favors, I'm also making photo poster boards and I received a call to make shower invitations and favors now too.  Yikes!  This is all in addition to my design team commitments and my personal card making as well. (And it's my Dad's birthday this weekend and I'm hosting Easter dinner next week.)  There just isn't enough time in the day, but I will be back to check out your lovely projects as soon as I possibly can.

Thanks for sticking by me and have a wonderful weekend!

Tulips

Hi Everyone,

I'm sharing my embossed tulip card with you today.  It's made with the gorgeous Tulips (491S) set that was recently released at Sparkle N Sprinkle.  It's a wonderful stamp set that's perfect for this time of year.  I was in a hurry when I went to make this card, so I decided not to stamp and color the image with my Copic markers as I typically do.  Instead,  I stamped the tulips in Versamark and embossed them in White Detail embossing powder.  When done this way on a dark card stock, the effect is stunning. The detail on the flowers is simply beautiful.

The sentiment was embossed as well using Red Apple embossing powder.  It was then layered onto die cut Sticker Paper coated in Meadow Spark glitter.
I hope I reminded you, that even open lined images look lovely using the simple embossing technique...And as always, you can check out my card gallery here.
Have a great day!

Blog Hop Time

 Hi Everyone,

It's Sparkle N Sprinkle's "My Favorite Technique" blog hop, and I'm thrilled to show off my cards.  First off, you should have come here by way of Barbara, so if you didn't, please start here so you don't miss out commenting on anyone in the hop.  That way you will be sure to be in the drawing for a number of fantastic prizes :)

Both of my cards today feature Paper Piecing.  While I don't know if it's my favorite technique of all time, it sure is one that I enjoy doing because I really love the end result.

Here I used some of my background paper on the bunny's dress.  I think it really pulls the whole card together.  I also added a die cut flower made from Sticker Paper (99558) and Shell Pink (#G1022) and Evening Glow (#G1086) Glitters, along with a
1/2 strip of Tear-iffic Tape(#SAT04). The bunny is from the set
Star Bunnies (#214) and she's such a cutie!

I just loved each and every bunny in that stamp set, that I had a hard time choosing a favorite, so I just went ahead and made a second card with a different stamp from the same set.  This time I paper pieced the dress using Sticker Paper (99558) coated in Cloud Nine Velvet Glitter (#GM2000) and colored it with a Copic marker to match my patterned papers.  The sentiments for both of these cards came from the set Just for You (#444s)

As always, step by step details for both cards can be found in my gallery here.

Thanks for doing the "bunny" hop to my blog.  Next up is the always fabulous Jackie, and I'm so excited to see what's she's made myself :)  Have a great day and the entire list is below, just in case there is a hiccup along the way!

Blooming Easter

Hi Everyone,
Easter isn't too far off, so I thought I would share another card that I made celebrating this awesome spring holiday. The card took shape because I wanted to use up these pink, store bought flower embellishments. I began by choosing the Blooming Easter Greeting which I stamped in Versamark, embossed and die cut. Perfect match for the velum blossoms I thought. After adding some pink sponged ink, I layered it on another die cut, echoing the petals of the flowers.

The background was made by stamping the Interlocking Flowers on one side and the Script Font Background down the other, and I covered the space where they met with a piece of ribbon and lace. Sweet, simple and (almost) monochromatic.

Have you sent in your guess for our Stamp A Versary contest yet? All the clues were listed in in
this post and you can see the prizes and enter your guess here. You have until March 16th....Good Luck!

Beach Babe

Hi Everyone,

Can you tell I'm ready for summer?  I'm totally by passing spring and heading for the middle of July with today's card...lol! Unless you're one of the lucky few who live in the south and see this type of weather on a regular basis.  Know that I sure do envy you!

Anyway, I was recently stamping with the stamp set Beach Babes (#473).  It's full of cute, no SUPER cute gals frolicking at the beach and just enjoying sunshine in general.  I made this card with this month's challenge at the Sparkle N Sprinkle Challenge Blog in mind.  It was an easy one...Anything Goes with Glitter!

I used Dimensional Glue (#539) and Sparkling Snow glitter (#G1003) to highlight the waves on my dry embossed background and colored this adorable gal with my Copic markers.

All of the specific card details can be found in my gallery right here, and I hope to see your glittery card entered over at the challenge blog! Also, next week is our next blog hop, so mark your calenders for that.  The team has been hard at work getting ready to inspire you with their favorite techniques!  You won't want to miss out :)
May your day be warm and sunny!

Easter...The Promise of God's Love

Hi Everyone,

As I write this post, the sun is shining and our TV weather people are promising me warmer temperatures by this weekend. However, we have to make it past this next round of snow that's on it's way here within the next 24 hours. Sigh.  Spring can't come soon enough, so on that note, I'm off to show you my pastel card that celebrates Easter.

For my focal image, I tore a sticky note, masked off the sky portion and sponged on ink to create the ground.  Then I created the sky using a scalloped circle punch to mask off bits of the background to create the clouds with some light blue ink.  After the little background was completed, I stamped the Triple Cross and cut out the scene with an oval Nestabilities die.

For the base of my card I chose to echo the background in my image and dry embossed the "sky" to add some texture to my card and used one corner of the Four Flower Background stamp for the grass portion.

The Easter is God's Love sentiment reminds us of the true meaning of the Easter holiday and I finished it off with a few die cut butterflies.

Have you been playing along with the Stamp A Versary game at DRS Designs? This card is being featured over at the blog, along with your next clue.  Hop on over to check it out!

Have a wonderful day :)

Life is Better at the Beach

Hi Everyone,

I have a simple card to share today.  I'm so over the cold, grey weather around here, so I thought I'd cheer myself up with a beach themed creation.  I made it for the new challenge at the Sparkle N Sprinkle challenge blog.  It's a month long challenge and the theme this month is Anything Goes with Glitter.  How easy is that?  My kinda challenge :)

My focal sentiment comes from the set Beach Babes(# 473) by Michelle Perkett and I used some Sparkle N Soft in Sparkling Sands (SS118) and Velvet glitter in Jasper Blue (GM2012) on my die cuts. Using Sticker Paper (99558) makes applying glitter to anything so easy. If you want any more specifics on my card, you can find them in my card gallery at Sparkle N Sprinkle.

If you play along in our challenge using a Sparkle N Sprinkle stamp (rubber or digi), you will receive a digi stamp, just for participating.  I hope  that you will find the time to join us.  All the details and to link up your card can be found by clicking here.

Hope you have a happy weekend!
