Welcome!

My name, Karin, was pretty common when I was growing up...just not the spelling. Unless you are of German heritage like I am. So, I have spent my entire life answering the question, "What is your name"?... With, "Karin...with an "i"! Who knew it would come in handy all these years later when I went to name my blog.

A Toast to You

Hi Everyone,

I feel like I've been hanging on to this photo forever.  I made this simple birthday card back in January and thought surely the Hambo Hoedown would have a challenge that I could enter it in.  So I waited.  Then I waited some more.  Finally months later, today is an Anything Goes challenge (Woot!) and I'm showing it off.  Truth be told, I've used this Toaster digi to make a bunch of other cards as well, although I have no photo of those.  Trust me when I say, the toaster is super cute in red :)   Anyway, this neutral baby went to a guy, and he was impressed.

Here's hoping it won't be months before I play along again....Thanks for this great digi (one of my all time favorites) and the easy peasy challenge!

Other challenges for this card:

It's Your Birthday-Sweet!

Hi Everyone,

I'm sharing a birthday card today that I made with stamps from DRS Designs in honor of a friend of mine with a sweet tooth as big as they come. Really though, doesn't that describe almost anyone?! When it's your special day, I think it's almost a crime not to indulge :)

My bright and cheerful card was made using an embossing folder that has a single row of balloons. It left the right side plain, so I stamped that using the Spatter Background in red and orange ink. I added a strip of white cardstock stamped again in orange and red, only this time using the Easy Dot Background. Before adhering it to my card, I added a punched border and a bit of ribbon.

I was able to fit the top part of the "Sweet" Birthday Greeting in the Birthday Candle Address Frame, so I colored those candles to match and stamped the "sweet" right underneath. The Cherry Top Cupcake was stamped colored and fussy cut and then adhered with a pop dot. And to make it extra sweet, I added Stickles to the frosting and Glossy Accents to the cherry.

I hope your day is extra sweet!
Karin

Cheers!

Hi Everyone,

I'm back to share another bright card that is a salute to summer!  One last big hoo-rah before the leaves start to change and all of my paper crafting is made up of  papers in brown, orange and gold :)

Once again I inked up a tropical Mai-Tai stamp (#2019-373E) from the set Cocktails (#373) and colored it up with my Copic markers.  I added a mat made from Sticker Paper (#99558) and coated it in Cobalt Glaze Velvet Glitter (GM2015).

The Salute sentiment (#2016-373A) was stamped after I coated my die cut in Cloud Nine Velvet Glitter (GM2000). It's one of the great things about this line of glitters, they really are that smooth!  Try them, I know you will be impressed.

I finished off my card with a bit of ribbon, gems (one of my favorite things), a dot of Dimensional Glue (#539) and Dazzling Rose Glitter (#G1085) in the center of the drink flower.  This just makes me want to grab a book and sit poolside!  Remember, full details can be found in the card gallery, here.

Cheers!

Halloween Sketch

Hi Everyone,

DRS Designs is sponoring the challenge over at Tuesday Morning Sketches this week.  There's a great prize up for grabs, so I hope you can play along.

Here is this week's sketch:

And my card for inspiration:

Here is a list of the stamps I used:

What do you think of the coloring on my pumpkin?  My friend who is an actual artist moved back into town, and I had him give me some coloring/shading pointers when he was over one day.  I think it turned out better than my usual :)  I just don't know if I can duplicate it without him helping me again...lol!

Also, the current challenge over at DRS Designs is to make a card with a decorative edge.  Maybe you can incorporate both challenges into one card and have two chances to win!

Good luck!

Super Sweet!

Hi Everyone,

Today I'm sharing one of the Christmas cards I've been making recently, and this adorable little Candy Cane Chistmas Critter from DRS Designs is too cute! I think he may be gracing more than one creation of mine this year :) As per usual for me, I colored him with my Copic markers and die cut him using my circle Spellbinders dies.

I used the Large Original Plaid background and stamped the right bottom corner of my card stock at an angle, hoping to kind of mimic the stripes on the candy canes he is holding. That also left me with enough room to stamp the Super Sweet Christmas greeting on the top left.

I lined the upper stamped portion with gems, just because they sort of looked like candies. And finally, I rounded one corner of the card before adhering it together.

Super short and sweet today friends. I'm trying to squeeze every last drop of fun and sun that this summer has to offer.

If you're stamping today, be sure to make a card for our Lavender and Lace challenge right here!

Circle Card

Hi Everyone,

Today's card uses stamps from Sparkle N Sprinkle and let me till you today is all
about Cocktails! (#373).  If you think it's too early in the day to imbibe, well you know what they say, "It's five o'clock somewhere!"  Besides, the only alcohol involved in this drink, is found in the Copic markers used to color up this beautiful Bahama Mama (#2013-373E) stamp.

If you aren't on the shores of the beach right now, this is sure to make you feel like you are.  After coloring the drink I embellished the rim with a line of Dimensional Glue (#539) and some Sparkling Snow glitter (#G1003) to look like sugar.

The stamped image and mats were cut out using a Circle dies from Spellbinders and the mat under the drink, (which was cut from Sticker Paper #99558) was coated in Irish Sparkle (#SS113) Sparkle N Soft.  I finished off the mini card with some twine and many gems in matching colors. Specific details can be found in my card gallery here.

A card can never have enough bling, right?

CHEERS!

It's Five O'clock Somewhere

Hi Everyone,

Although I feel like we are on the down side of summer, I'm not willing to let it go quite yet. So, keep the warm vibes rolling here's my summer time card post for today, using stamps from DRS Designs :)

After stamping the Palm Trees, and Hula Pig ( Is she the cutest, or what?!) I colored in the background using Copic markers, trying my best to delineate between the sea and the sky. I wish I would have used a white gel pen to create some white caps in sea behind her, but I did add some glittery flock to the beach, just to enhance the sand a bit.

After I did a bit of coloring and fussy cutting, the margarita from the Drink Line Up stamp fit perfectly in her hand. I figured she'd be thirsty after all that dancing :) I finished it off with the Five O'clock Somewhere greeting and layered everything onto a wave embossed background.

Thanks for peeking in today!
