Welcome!

My name, Karin, was pretty common when I was growing up...just not the spelling. Unless you are of German heritage like I am. So, I have spent my entire life answering the question, "What is your name"?... With, "Karin...with an "i"! Who knew it would come in handy all these years later when I went to name my blog.

Christmas Cardinal

Hi Everyone,

Cardinals are one of my favorite birds. I love that they stick around Ohio for the winter, and seeing their pop of red against the stark white snow, is definitely one of those highlights during the long cold spell.

So, I was totally thrilled to see the soon to be released Small Cardinal stamp from DRS Designs and couldn't wait to use it on a Christmas card. I colored it with Copics and die cut it using a Spellbinders rectangle die, and layered it on some paper made with the Woven Plaid. I added some printed ribbon and stamped the Beauty of Nature Christmas Greeting for my sentiment.

I finished my card with a few green half pearls and a die cut Poinsettia embellished with red Stickles.

I used to buy holiday cards with cardinals on them before I started stamping, but handmade is way more impressive in my opinion. I can't wait to send them out!

Thanks for stopping by!

Golf Ball Snowman

Hi Everyone,

While fall themed cards are my all time favorite, I've been up to my eyeballs in leaves, leaves and more leaves. Along with raking, raking and more raking :) Needless to say, no leaf themed cards for me this week...lol. So, since I haven't yet soured on snow, I made a card using the adorable Golf ball Snowman stamp from DRS Designs.

I stamped some paper using the Woven Plaid and 4 in 1 Snowflakes stamps and colored the snowman's hat and scarf to match. I used the Triple Tree with Snow in the background and layered the papers and border on top. I finished it off with some of the left over snowflakes from the border punch and a portion of the Warms My Heart greeting.

Thanks for checking in and don't forget to join us for our Turkey Challenge this week!

Twin Gingerbread

Hi Everyone,

My mind is in holiday mode right now. I sent out my Thanksgiving invitations yesterday, and now I'm thinking Christmas cards. I'm no where near where I should be in terms of being done making them, so if you are in my same boat, here is a card to get your mojo flowing.

I used the traditional red and green colors of the Christmas season for today's offering using stamps from DRS Designs. The background paper was made using the Open Plaid stamped at an angle; this gives a nod to all those peppermint sticks that are popular at this time of the year. For the sentiment I used the
Merry Christmas Recipe Greeting and die cut it using a rectangular Spellbinders die.

I thought since it was a recipe, I would embellish it with twin Gingerbread Boys, which I stamped, fussy cut and colored with Copic markers. A white gel pen was used to create the frosting zig zags, and I finished it with a die cut piece of ric rac and plastic candy :)

Hmmm...Now I've got cookies on the brain...lol! Well, I can't get ahead of myself. I need to get rid of my extra Halloween candy first. And speaking of Halloween, that's the theme of our

See ya there!
